Rather play a youngster than JOB!! ;o)

He ruined a load of youngsters last yeat at Forest, but I'm well up for trying to get them involved, as if he continually refuses to give them any minutes as either a starter or sub, then I bet there are plenty of clubs out there who would and they will be straight off.

Been too long since we gave a youngen a proper chance, though I appreciate that the crop hasn't been great for a few years.

Re: Its beyond me...
The other option would be to leave Kouyate at the back and put Jarvis in. Not ideal maybe, but then again the manager did see fit to spend £10m on him.

Re: Its beyond me...
Plight that looks a reasonable starting eleven.

Re: Its beyond me...
Grumpster, with hindsight we could have gone with JoB alongside Tomkins so that Kouyate went in midfield and Cole was on the bench.

Looks a bit unbalanced that? We playing everything through the right?

Re: Its beyond me...
Judging by the bench, we were extremely restricted in who we could select last night.

Only difference I would have made would probably to have played one of the young defenders instead of Cole and stuck Kouyate in his proper position.

Got to blood them at some time and I'd rather do it when they're playing alongside someone who's been in cracking form (Tomkins) and surrounded by 2 of the leagues best fullbacks with Song and Kouyate in front of them.

best side since 85/86............... apart from the side that finished 5th in the late 90s.
and 7th in 2002.
and 8th in 1998 maybe.

and possibly teams that have finished 9th.

Re: Its beyond me...
Promotions to the PL need to be quantified anyway.

It's a bit different getting West Ham or Newcastle cack into the top tier, than it is getting someone like Blackpool or Burnley into it.

That said, Allardyce did well to get Bolton Wanderers up and competing like they were.

All that is years back and it's the here and now though - I think they will definetly stick with him, as he's done the job(s), that he was taken on to do.

With Allardyce overall as a manager, I think he's one of those managers whose success is because of AND despite of tbh

On the one hand look at how we attacked Liverpool from the off at home this season and tore them apart early on, but then you get some away games, where the impression seems to be that they've been half written off before kick-off.

It's baffling.

I would have played our most effective players in their most effective positions.

So effectively you would have had Poyet for Cole. From last night's bench though it seems that Poyet was unavailable.

Re: Its beyond me...
It was a good 'gritty point', maybe people would have preferred it if we had just gone gung ho and got caught on the break by Mane and lost 2-0. If I was Alladyce I would laugh my socks off at the lack of support and continued unrealistic expectations of many fans.

I would love him to go. Then again, I had seeing dull, negative, defeatist football so that's no shock.

Comma,

Prolly something like this:

Adrian
Jenks.
Kouyate
TomPkins
Cresswell
Song
Poyet
Amaliftano
Downing
Sakho
Valencia

I think they were all available anyway.

Re: Its beyond me...
I think the rotund one dodged a bullet last night.

Back to our days of trying not to concede and offering no attacking threat, I think the Adrian sending off was a welcome diversion for him. All of a sudden we get the 'backs to the wall' spiel.

Does everyone really think we're having our best season since 86? Look at the sway Spurs went to Anfield and attacked on Tuesday ands compare that to our pathetic capitulation there a week or so before.

Personally I long for the days when we had a side that was attacking and exciting to watch.

Re: Its beyond me...
Thought the same thing this morning, apart from Southampton there is not a single team above us who at the start of the season we would have not expected to be above us. I reckon at other clubs BFS would have god like status for the position we find ourselves in and each home game his name would be ringing out over the stands.
